Keeping Up With The Sahabah (RA): Episode 2

Did you know that the early companions made two Hijrah to 'Abasha (Abyssinia) before the grand Hijrah to Madinah?

Did you know that the first Hijrah made in Islam to the land of Najash (Negus) a christian king comprised of ten men and five women?

Did you know that the ten men were:

Uthman bin Affan (RA)

Abu Salama bin Abdul Assadi bin Hilal (RA)

Abu Sabra (RA)

'Amir bin Rabi'ah (RA)

Abu Hudhayfah bin Utbah bin Rabii'ah (RA)

Abdur'Rahman bin 'Auf (RA)

Uthman  bin Maz'un (RA)

Mus'ab bin Umayr (RA)

Suhayl (RA)

Az-Zubayr bin Al-Awwam (RA)

And the five women were:

Ruqayyah bint Rasulullaah (RA) {Uthman's wife)

Ummu Salama Hind bint Abu Umayyah Al-Makzoomiyah (RA)

Ummul khulthum

Laylah (RA) the wife of 'Amir bin Rabi'ah

Sahlata bint Suhayl (RA) the wife of Abu Hudhayfah bin Utba (RA)

These were privileged men and women who championed the cause of migration for the sake of Allaah.

Islam is a balanced religion and the effort to establish the Deen of Allaah has always being the goal of both Muslims; men and women.

Islam is not gender biase…Men and women are given equal capability for spiritual and moral attainment.

Just as these men and women made the first Hijrah ever in Islam so also are we encouraged to make Hijrah from our sinful ways to the ways of repentance and total obedience to the Will of Allaah.

May Allaah give us the ability to migrate from our sins to serving Him diligently.
