What Will Be Our Legacy?

What Will Be Our Legacy?

In the Name of Allaah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

Allaah says in the Glorious Qur'an: "O you who believe! Fear Allaah and keep your duty to Him. And let every person look to what he has sent forth for the morrow, and fear Allaah. Verily, Allaah is All-Aware of what you do." Q59:18

In one verse, twice Allaah asks us to fear Him and that we should reflect and think of the deeds we are doing for the Hereafter.

A believer is apt in his expressions and foremost in righteous deeds.

A believer lives a life of piety by virtue of which many look up to him for worthy characters to emulate.

A believer does righteous deeds both in public domain and in the confines of his privacy to please Allaah by virtue of which Allaah loves him and cause the creation to love him as well.

When a man lives a life trying to please Allaah Alone, he will do deeds in the confines of his room and Allah will instill his love in the hearts of men. He will make statements of truth and in silence and Allaah will amplify them.

History bears testimony to the fact that those who stood for the Truth (Islam) and led a life worthy of emulation are still celebrated centuries down the line.

Am I living a worthy life? Ask yourself this innocent question and whatever the answer is be sure to either amend or improve...

If I die today, will I be proud of what I'm going to leave behind of character and deeds? Ask yourself this innocent question and judge yourself.

Are our utterances worthy of spurring people to righteousness or are they deliberately charged to incite people to disobey Allaah?

How are we gonna fare before Allaah? What are we doing to emancipate our souls from the Blazing Fire of Jahannam?

What are we using our sights to look at? Remember, Allaah says: "Allah knows the fraud of the eyes, and all that the breasts conceal."Q40:19

What is our relationship status with our relatives?: remember, Rasulullaah (Pbuh) said: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him maintain the bonds of kinship.”  Bukhari has it.

What value are we attaching to our five daily prayers...Our lives are to be revolving around the five daily prayers.

What is the quality of our Salat....is it superb or is it just "Up-Down-kiss-the-ground-and-back-to-town?

How many times do we fast just for the pleasure of Allaah? Brothers and sisters, we have all it takes to be the friend of Allaah.

Do we prefer to read the Qur'an and ponder over its meanings and act upon them so that our salvation can be a reality or do we relegate it to the tail end for music and filthy novels and magazines?

There is no way a man will achieve his hopes if he practices not what he preaches.

Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Idris ash-Shafi'i said: "Qad Maata Qaumun wama matat makarimuhum wa ' asha Qaumun wa hum fee-n-Naassi amwatu"

The rendering of which is: Some have physically died but their good character has kept them spiritually alive while others are physically alive but their evil and wicked character has killed them a spiritual death.

We have the chance to explore all avenues to attract the Mercy of Allaah now by doing what He commands through the pure tongue of His most beloved Rasul, Muhammad ibn Abdullah (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him and his honorable household).

May Allaah inspire us to righteousness so that our living will be a benefit to others and our death will be enviable for generations to come.
