In the Name of Allaah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
[Satan] said, ‘Because You have put me in error, I will surely sit in wait for them on Your straight path. Then I will come to them from before them and from behind them and on their right and on their left, and You will not find most of them grateful [to You].’ Q7: 16-17.
Allaah has given man the intelligence to detect the path of Satan in order to save himself from the disobedience of Allaah, because disobeying Allaah only makes the punishment of Allaah lawful on him.
The nature of intelligent people is that when they hear of the punishment of Allaah, they abandon the sin they are accustomed to even though it requires strong will and persistence in prayers.
Satan destroys the sinner by creating an atmosphere of despondency in his heart such that he becomes convinced that his sins are so enormous and many that Allaah will never forgive and pardon him.
However, when it comes to the pious he destroys him through pride and complacency and mostly the pious sometimes if he or she doesn't imbibe humility then an attitude of holier than thou crops up and this is a more serious sin.
Satan hypes our confidence when we commit sins and after the sin he abandons us because Allaah describes him as an ever deserter at the time of need.
My message to one and all is that we should strive our utmost to:
Live as a Muslim, act as a Muslim, and die as a Muslim.
